Canon EOS 1000D - my Beloved Weapon

A Canon entry-level DSLR, EOS 1000D still far from professional SLR camera. But, if you want to be pro, you must learn starting from this camera. The price is the cheapest between the other Canon digital SLR. It’s the true successor to the best-selling EOS 400D / Rebel XTi and positioned below the EOS 450D / Rebel XSi which was launched earlier. 10.1 Megapixel resolution using a CMOS sensor and Image Stabilizer sistem is power of this camera. 3fps continuous shooting rate and the same sized 2.5in 230k pixel screen round the back (the different from the earlier, it’s now brighter and sports a wider viewing angle). So far so similar, and very easy to use.

Canon’s additionally shed weight at 450g, it’s officially the company’s lightest DSLR to date. Measuring 126x98x62mm. IT looks better for it with curvier surfaces. It build like most budget DSLRs, they employ lightweight plastic shells, but the construction and assembly feels smooth and solid.
The most predictable being the presence of Live View. Including the contrast-based AF option and supplied PC/Mac remote control software. EOS 1000D has recycled the 7-point system. The Canon EOS 1000D / XS employs an EF lens mount and is fully compatible with both Canon EF and EF-S lenses. Thanks to its APS-C sensor size, all lenses effectively have their field of view reduced by 1.6 times.

Introduction

The Canon Rebel XS is the lightest DSLR even made by Canon.

The Canon Rebel XS is a $699, 10 MP, 2.5" LCD DSLR which should ship in August 2008. It comes packaged with the 18-55mm IS lens for $699. It competes directly against the Nikon D60.

What's new and interesting is Canon's Auto Lighting Optimizer, which if it works as well as Nikon's Automatic Dynamic Range Adjustement, will be a huge help in making significantly better pictures.

The new Canon Rebel XS is also called the EOS 1000D in Europe and Korea, and the Kiss F in Japan.

Recommendations from Ken Rockwell:
I'm all for inexpensive, light and small, which is this camera. Personally I own a Nikon D40, which I find much easier to use than my Canon DSLRs.

Canon's Rebels are the world's largest selling DSLRs, as was the Canon AE-1 of the 1980s. Canon only makes winners, and I'm sure this new camera will be very popular.

I love the fact that there is no old-fashioned LCD on top of the camera. Those date from film cameras, and I prefer to have my information on the rear of the camera where I can see it.

There is a dedicated WB button on the back, which is very important for getting great color.

Dimas A. Nugroho is an amateur photographer currently living in East Java, Indonesia. His website is an example of self-promotion. All of the page just a photo and some text that desribe the picture. Dig deeper into the website and there are photo galleries showing only his best work, a blog for personal anecdotes and tutorials, and hopefully will have a stock photo gallery.
